These beautiful trailing waterfalls are a feature of steep mountainous country, and they have a magical quality that never fails to put us in awe of nature. Often they are surrounded by dense forest, but I have depicted this one in bare rock that emphasises the underlying geological structure of the landscape.

We have a number of these very high waterfalls in New Zealand, mainly in Fiordland on the western coast of Southland where the terrain and rainfall are just right for them.
