RON EMBLETON
Ron Embleton has been rightly called one of the giants of the British adventure strip. He was born in London in 1930 and in his 58 years of life he created an enormous body of exceptionally high quality artwork.
Next to Disney, my favorite cartoon strip was his “Strongbow the Mighty”, which I followed avidly from week to week in “Mickey Mouse Weekly”. Not so much for the story – though the storylines were always good – but for the magnificent artwork. I still have over 30 pages of Strongbow comic saved in my swipe file, and once I get my scanner going again, I’ll put them up here because in my recent searches for Ron’s work, I find there’s nothing of Strongbow on the net.
Meantime, here are one or two great images I captured by camera to set the ball rolling. Please enjoy. Check out a couple in the August 2008 Archive on the main blog also.
