Up among the volcanic mountains of National Park, on the Central North Island Plateau, one has an overwhelming feeling of being on top of the world - which actually is the case for the North Island because the land slopes away on all sides and the horizons tend to drop off as in this painting.
This painting has its location around the base of Mt Ngauruhoe and it depicts one of my hunting friends - quite at home alone in the wilderness landscape.
