"Bull Elk Roaring"

These magnificent animals are also an introduced species that acclimatised very well in Fiordland, at the extreme south west of the South Island.

They have been hunted and captured for farming - we have quite a number of Wapiti farms in the South Island.

Once again there are cries for extermination from certain quarters.

Ink on Art Paper 12" x 16".

Published as a full page frontispiece for a Newspaper Supplement to the Gisborne Herald in June 1980.

I recently layered this artwork in the computer with a wet-on-wet, semi-abstract acrylic painting I did more recently to produce a colored image.
