Original Acrylic ACEO:
" Celmisia " - The Mountain Daisy.

Anyone who visits the wild landscapes of the New Zealand high country will be familiar with this Mountain Daisy.

There are about 80 species of Celmisia in this country, and all of them are endemic. They are mostly found in sub-alpine regions and due to frequent hybridisation they can be hard to identify, but one of the main features of all of them is the construction of the leaves to avoid the evaporation of water - either by a thick felty covering of hairs, or by having varnished surfaces to their leaves.

This makes for variability in the look of the plants themselves, although the daisy heads are always characteristic.

Original ACEO painted on 160gsm Arches Dessein Art Paper mounted on card. Overall size is 2.5 in by 3.5 in.

Sold - Texas USA.

Illustration for "Plants of the Gouland Downs and Perry Pass" ISSN 0375-0108

Original Pencil Drawing:
"Celmisia coriacea"
NZ Mountain Daisy.

ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". These cards have one main rule - they are 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches - the size of a trading card. They are a wonderful way for buyers to sample an artist's work before purchasing a painting. Its also a great way to collect many of your favorite artist's pieces to keep in a small photo album or in a trading cards album. Art Card collecting and trading has become a worldwide phenomenon in the past 2 years, and many established artists now offer ACEOs as part of their portfolios.
