Original Acrylic:
" Boating Geology : Rangitoto" - Symbolic Seascape.

Here's a new look at Marine landscapes!

The lovely color combinations of this image are a refreshing change and the subject matter makes one wonder what relics of byegone life on Earth lie below the seabed of our coasts and harbours.

This painting was prompted by a recent front page article in The New Zealand Herald discussing the likelihood of volcanic events in Auckland in the not-too-distant future (geologically speaking), and reporting on recent scientific predictions about what form they might take.

Cheer up boaties - it appears scientists consider a marine eruption more likely than an eruption on land.

The painting depicts an imaginary slice of marine geology in Hauraki Gulf, where the volcanic cone of Rangitoto Island oversees all activity in the harbour.

Original Acrylic on Arches Dessein 160gsm art paper 16.75 x 24.75in. Sold - Dunedin, NZ.
